The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has not taken any decision over physicians’ private chambers and fees in government hospitals.
In fact, a committee chaired by Md Saidur Rahman, Additional Secretary (Administration) of the Ministry is working on the issue and the action of the committee is going on, the ministry said in a press release on Monday.
According to the release, various news headlines such as “Chamber from March, maximum fee Tk 300”, and “Specialist doctors to prescribe for Tk 300” are creating various confusion among people.
So far, whether a doctor’s fee will be Tk 300 or Tk 150, it has not yet been fixed. The ministry has not taken any decision on how many hospitals or government health centres will be allowed to provide the service, it added.
The decision taken over the issue will be informed to the countrymen through a press conference.
It also requested not to publicize the information about doctors’ chambers, patient fees and other related issues in government hospitals until the further announcement by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
