Bangladesh has secured ownership of around 75 decimals of land from India near Nogan’s Agradigun bordering area, settling nearly 50 years of disputes between the two countries over the land.
The decision was announced after a joint meeting held between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday afternoon.
Lt Col Hamid Uddin, commander of BGB-14, led the Bangladesh side while S K Mishra, commandant of the BSF-164 led the Indian side during the joint survey.
Officials of land survey departments of both Bangladesh and India were also present during the joint survey.
There had been a feud for the last 50 years over the land and it has been put to an end on Wednesday through a mutual agreement, Hamid Uddin said.
During the joint survey of the two countries, it has proved that Bangladesh is the owner of the land, and Bangladeshi farmers from now on will be able to cultivate the land, said the BGB official.
