Metro rail to run from 8am to 8pm from May 31

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has decided to run metro rail from 8am to 8pm from May 31 instead of the current schedule from 8am to 2pm.
The change has been made keeping the facilities of the office going people in mind, DMTCL Managing Director MAN Siddique said this during a press conference held at the conference room of Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in Dhaka on Thursday.
to the new schedule, Friday will be the weekly holiday Tuesday, Siddique said at the press conference.
The new schedule will be effective from the metro rail’s Uttara station to Agargaon, he said adding that the travel time from 8 am to 11 am is considered as peak hour and the train will run every 10 minutes within the time frame.
The travel time from 11.01 am to 3 pm is considered an off-peak hour and the train will run every 15 minutes, from 3.01 pm to 6 pm is a peak hour and the train will run every 10 minutes and from 6.01 pm to 8 pm is considered as an off-peak hour and the train will run every 15 minutes within the time frame, he said.
The metro rail service will remain off on the day of the Eid-ul-Azha, Siddique said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the journey of the much-awaited metro rail on December 28 last year. From the beginning, the authority is running the metro rail on a limited scale.
While talking to Business Insider Bangladesh on May 4, Mohammad Abdur Rouf, additional project director (Finance & Administration) of the DMTCL, said that the metro-rail services on the Agargaon-Motijheel route will begin by October or November this year.
The metro rail's 98 percent work has already been completed,” Rouf said.
On completion of the work, the metro rail will run for 16 hours a day and it will be extended for 24 hours gradually, according to a source.
