Rampal power plant gets supply of 26,620 tonnes of coal

A Chinese ship carrying 26,620 tonnes of coal for Rampal Thermal Power Plant located in Bagerhat has arrived at Mongla Port in Khulna.
The coal-carrying ship reached Harbaria of the port around 5 am on Saturday, according to an official of the port. Earlier on May 21, the ship left Indonesia for Mongla port with the coal.
The unloading and transportation of the coal to Rampal Power Plant began this morning, according to the source.
A Bangladeshi-flagged ship MV Bashundhara Impress carrying 30,000 tonnes of coal for the power plant reached the port on May 16.
Later on May 29, MV Bashundhara Majesty, carrying 30,500 tonnes of coal for the power plant, anchored at the Mongla port.
Payra thermal power plant was shut down on June 5 and Banskhali thermal power plant on June 9 due to the coal crisis.
On June 5, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, in his verified Facebook page, said that the supply of electricity will be normal across the country within the next two weeks.
