Transformer installation work at Rampura substation suspended

Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) suspended the installation work of a new 240/132 kV, 450 MVA transformer at Dhaka’s Rampura Power Grid Substation, hours after its announcement of power disruption in many parts of the capital for the next seven days.

As the work has been suspended, there will be no power cut in the city,” said PGCB Public Relations Officer Badiuzzaman.

He also said that this high voltage capacity transformer has been installed replacing the existing one in order to improve the capacity of the grid substation.

Earlier in the day, the power company in a press release announced the installation work of a new 230/132 KV, 450 MVA transformer to increase the capacity of the Rampura 230/132 KV grid substation of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) will begin on July 16 and continue till July 22.

Due to this, the power supply may be disrupted partially in some areas under Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) and Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) for the next seven days.
