Dengue claims 10 more lives, infects 2,361 in 24hrs

The health authorities recorded 10 more deaths from dengue in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning, pushing this year’s death toll to 225 so far.
A total of 2,361 new patients were hospitalised across the country during the same period, said a handout of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the new patients, 1,122 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and the rest 1,239 outside it, according to DGHS.
A total of 8,467 dengue patients, including 3,658 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
So far, the DGHS has recorded 42,702 dengue cases and 34,010 recoveries this year.
The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019.
Also, it recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
