Information and broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday said the death of eminent writer and researcher Prof Panna Kaiser is an irreparable loss to the Bangalee nation while she had sharpened the lost spirit of the Liberation War after 1975.
He made the remark after paying homage to the body of Panna Kaiser kept on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar in the capital, reports BSS.
Dr Hasan, also joint general secretary of ruling Awami league, said after 1975, the spirit of Liberation War was lowered and undermined, and Panna Kaiser, wife of martyred intellectual Shahidullah Kaiser, sharpened the spirit of Liberation at that adverse time.
Mentioning that Panna Kaiser continued her struggle through her whole life, he said she lost her husband two years after her marriage but she did not get married again.
Panna Kaiser suffered a lot in her life but she joined all democratic movements being imbued with the spirit of Liberation War, the minister said.
The sudden death of Panna Kaiser was unexpected, he said, adding, “We expressed deep sympathy to her family and sought eternal peace of the departed soul. May the Creator rest her in everlasting peace.”
