Dengue claims 8 lives, infects 2,201 in 24hrs

The health authorities recorded eight more deaths from dengue and 2,201 new cases in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning, according to the health department.

With the new eight deaths, this year’s total number of casualties rose to 514, said a handout of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the deceased, six persons died while undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka and two outside of it, said the DGHS.

Besides, a total of 7, 942 patients including 3,763 in the capital are receiving treatment at different hospitals across the country during the same period.

So far, the DGHS recorded 1, 08,630 dengue cases and 1, 00,174 recoveries this year.

The country recorded 281 deaths from dengue in 2022 and 179 deaths in 2019.

The health department also recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries in the last year
