The newly elected executive committee of Bangladesh Jewelers’ Association (BAJUS) has expressed dismay over the involvement of its President, Sayem Sobhan Anvir, in wrongdoing.

The members of the executive committee believe that exporting jewelry products will brighten the country’s image abroad, according to reports published on social media.

In today's digital age, where information is readily accessible, many individuals are already aware that the BAJUS chairman is allegedly involved in the tragic incident of the death of his girlfriend, college student Mosarat Jahan Munia.

They are aware that Anvir was reportedly acquitted without arrest and interrogation by police and PBI in connection with the killing incident.

Even if Anvir is wrapped with hundreds of bhories of gold ornaments, his stigma will not be erased, they said, adding that fair investigation and justice must be ensured to restore the tarnished dignity of the BAJUS.

The recently elected executive committee of BAJUS made these statements during a protest procession organized under the banner of "Justice for Munia" in Dhaka on December 17. The event has gained widespread attention on social media.

Columnist, writer, and former professor of the Anthropology Department at Jahangirnagar University, Rehnuma Ahmed, participated in the event.

Other participants in the programme preferred not to be identified in the media. Images of the event were shared on the 'Justice for Munia' Facebook page.

Renowned economist Professor Anu Muhammad and prominent photographer Dr. Shahidul Alam shared the news on their respective Facebook pages on Sunday. The matter has since gone viral on social media.

Professor Rehnuma Ahmed said that, from a moral standpoint, they are conducting the programme to protest the murder of Munia and for justice. Their protest will be continued, she added.
