Law and Justice Division has sought an allocation of Tk1,390.07 crore in the upcoming fiscal year to continue some existing development projects and seven new projects.
The fund is badly needed for the physical development of courts premises and digitalising the Law and Justice Division, according to a letter sent by the law and justice division to the finance division ahead of the national budget preparation for the fiscal year 2021-22.
Without the fund, it will be difficult to achieve the development vision 2021, the target of 2041, and Bangladesh delta plan 2100, it reads.
In the current fiscal year, the Law and Justice Division was allocated Tk1,734.84 crore, which is higher than the amount it demanded for the new fiscal year.
In the current 2020-21 fiscal year, the ongoing projects of the agency included a Tk77.27 crore development of 64 districts chief judiciary council courts, Tk24.40 crore Bangladesh Supreme Court and Tk21.90 crore Bangladesh Bar Council expansion works.
The seven new projects worth Tk1,031 crore included setting up e-justice with Tk250 crore, construction of the Chief Magistrate Court with Tk250 crore, the establishment of Bangladesh Justices Academies (Ist phase) with a cost of Tk150 crore, strengthening justice and legal framework with a cost of Tk25 crore, and register office development with Tk250 crore.
