Eid-ul-Fitr, the significant religious festival for Muslims, will be observed on Thursday in Bangladesh, as the Shawwal moon was not sighted this evening.
The National Moon Sighting Committee made this decision following a review of the Shawwal moon sighting reports.
The meeting, chaired by Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan, finalized the date.
Eid celebrations are anticipated with fervor and enthusiasm after a month of fasting.
Preparations for Eid congregations, including those in the capital, have been completed nationwide to ensure smooth proceedings.
The main jamaat of Eid-ul-Fitr will be held at 8.30am at the National Eidgah in the capital.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has taken all necessary preparations for holding the main jamaat of Eid-ul-Fitr at the National Eidgah.
"Around 35,000 devotees would be able to participate in the congregation," he added.
Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Mawlana mufti Ruhul Amin and its Muezzin Qari Muhammad Habibur Rahman will lead the congregation.
DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh will inspect overall preparations at 11am tomorrow at the National Eidgah.
