Bangladesh reports 1,531 new Covid-19 cases, 14 deaths

Bangladesh reported 1,531 new Covid-19 cases and 14 deaths from the virus on Saturday.

With this, the number of positive cases rose to 430,496 and the number of deaths reached 6,173, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, 11,795 new samples were tested. The daily infection rate is 12.98 percent while the overall infection rate stands at 17.03 percent.

DGHS further said that 1,462 have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. The total number of recovered patients so far is 348,849 – 80.80 percent of the total infected.

According to the Worldometer data, 53,853,718 cases of coronavirus have been detected worldwide. The number of deaths reached 1,311,524 and 37,593,422 recovered from the virus.

The website further projects that there are currently 14,948,772 active cases of Covid-19 across the globe. Ninety-nine percent of the patients are in mild condition, while one percent is in critical condition.

The US is the country with most numbers of Covid-19 positive cases, followed by India, Brazil, France and Russia.
