Fire breaks out at Kumargaon Power Plant in Sylhet

A devastating fire broke out at Kumargaon 150 MW Power Plant in Sylhet today.

The fire originated around 10:30am and within a moment started engulfing the power plant, according to control room of Sylhet Fire Service Station.   

On information, four units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 12:45pm, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports quoting Jishu Talukdar, an official of the fire service station.

Source of the fire and its extent of damage could not be known immediately while no one has been injured in the fire, he added.   

Power supply to the entire Sylhet district remained suspended due the fire.
