The online application server of Chittagong University (CU) went down for a while on Thursday afternoon.
“Lots of applicants tried to apply at the same time, which caused the disruption,” CU Registrar Monirul Hasan told the Business Insider Bangladesh at around 3pm. He added that the IT cell of the university had been working and the problem would be resolved soon.
Some of the students informed this correspondent that they did not receive their admission test confirmation slip after their application fee payments while some were unable to pay fees due to the disruption.
The admission test form fill-up of CU started on April 12 and more than 35 thousand applicants have already applied since then.
The CU authorities had an agreement with a company named “Agami Labs” in 2018 and they used its service from 2019. This year, however, the university authorities are using different software.
According to Chittagong University sources, the admission test is scheduled to start on June 22-23 with the ‘B’ unit exam.
This year, the admission test of ‘D’ unit will be held on June 24-25, ‘A’ unit will be held on June 28-29 and ‘C’ unit on June 30. The exams for ‘B-1’ and ‘D-1’ will be held on July 1.
Forty-eight departments and five institutions of Chittagong University are offering around 4,926 seats for the students, including 737 quotas, this year.
The admission fee is Tk650 this year, Tk100 more than the previous year.
