Man with 60 gold bars held at Dhaka airport

Customs Intelligence claimed to have held a man with 60 gold bars at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today.
The market price of the gold, weighing around 6.900 kilogrammes, is estimated Tk 5.17 lakh, Maruf Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Customs House, confirmed the matter.
The identity and other detail of the detainee could not be known immediately, the customs official said.
Based on secret information, members of the customs intelligence team took position at different strategic points of the airport and detained the man landed at the airport by a flight from Dubai around 8:20am, he said.
The customs officials also recovered a total of 60 gold bars from his possession, Maruf Rahman said adding that process to file a case in this connection is under way.
