Experts have urged the government to improve healthcare services in rural areas, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The call was made at a webinar organised by Bangladesh Economic Association on Saturday.
big fund allocation cannot ensure improvement of the health sector, it needs research on vaccination and other necessary life-saving issues, they said.
At the event, a book on society-economy-state: in search of a better Bangladesh from the catastrophe of the virus written by BEA President Prof Abul Barkat was unveiled.
Speaking at the event, Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury said Bangladesh is still in the colonial era. “That is why capitalism is grabbing all the monetary allocation. The government is giving incentives, most of which is being usurped by the riches.”
He said, “Just increasing the allocation will not solve the problem faced by the health sector. Research work is needed to improve the sector.”
