Bangladesh to work with Singapore in exporting halal food: Tipu Munshi

Bangladesh will be working with Singapore in exporting halal food.

Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Singaporean Trade Relations Minister S Iswaran during a virtual meeting Thursday agreed to work together in this regard, reads a press release.

The meeting took place after the commerce minister presented his welcoming speech in a webinar titled “Spotlight Bangladesh”.

“With a global demand for halal foods being created, Bangladesh is trying to diversify its export products,” Tipu Munshi said, adding that there is a possibility of a $ 2.6 trillion market of halal food by the year 2023.

Saying that Bangladesh is able to produce halal foods, the minister further explained that the newer technologies Singapore has might help Bangladesh and thus the two countries can work together to fulfil the demand for halal food.

He also said that this can only be achieved by establishing mutual recognition and ensuring certification and quality.
