Remove illegal structures from Hatirjheel within 60 days: HC

The High Court on Wednesday issued a 10-point directives including the demolition of illegal structures within the Hatirjheel-Begunbari project that have been built outside of its layout plan within 60 days.

HC bench comprising Justice Asraful Kamal and Justice Rajik-Al Jalil came up with the directives following a writ petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) in 2018.

Earlier on September10 in 2018, the HC bench issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain, within four weeks, why they should not be directed to protect the project according to the layout plan. It also sought explanations as to why an order should not be issued to stop the construction of structures outside the layout plan.
