Covid-19: 38 more die, 2,198 new cases detected in 24hrs

Some 38 more people died from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours ending 8:30am on Wednesday, taking the total death toll from the pandemic to 6713 in Bangladesh.

During the same period, some 2,198 people tested positive for the coronavirus and with the fresh infection, the total number of the coronavirus cases rose to 469,423 in the country.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the disclosure in a press statement floated for mass media on regular basis this afternoon.

According to the DGHS, around 2, 562 patients recovered from the disease in the same period and the total number of recovery from the virus stood at 3, 85,786.

the last 24 hours, a total of 15,972 samples were tested at different government authorized laboratories across the country.

According to the test, the infection rate of the virus reached 13.76 percent while the death rate stood at 1.43 percent, the press release said.

In Bangladesh, the first coronavirus case was reported on March 8 and the number of infection reached 300,000 by August 26.

The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 6,000 on November 4.
