Pori Moni put on fresh one-day remand in drug case

A Dhaka court has placed film actress Shamsunnahar Smrity, known by her stage name Pori Moni, on a one-day remand in a case filed under Narcotic Control Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Atiqul Islam passed the order after Kazi Golam Mostafa, an inspector of Criminal Investigation Department, also investigation officer of the case, sought a five-day remand after producing her before the court on Thursday.
Pori Moni was arrested on August 4 from her Banani residence with a huge amount of foreign liquor and a case under the Narcotic Control Act was filed with Banani Police Station in this regard.
Following day, Pori Moni and her assistant Dipu were placed on a four-day remand each by metropolitan magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid in the case.
Later on August 10, a Dhaka court placed the actress on a 2-day fresh remand in the case.
On August 5, Pori Moni and her associate Ashraful Islam Dipu were shown arrested in the case filed by the Rapid Action Battalion.
