Covid-19 claims 36 more lives, infects 2,198 in 24hrs

Bangladesh recorded 36 more deaths and 2,198 infection cases from coronavirus at different parts of the country including capital Dhaka in the last 24 hours ending 8:00am on Monday.

With the latest figure, the death tally from the deadly virus pushed to 6,874 while the infections score stood at 4, 79,743 said a press statement of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.

In the last 24 hours, around 14,369 samples were tested at different government authorised laboratories and 2, 198 people of them found positive for the Covid-19, the statement said.

At the same time, a total of 2,663 patients who were undergoing treatment at different hospitals, were discharged after their recoveries from the infection.

According to the statistics, the latest infection rate reached 15.30 percent while the recovery rate rose to 83 percent.

In Bangladesh, the first coronavirus case was detected on March 8 and the first death case was recorded just after 10 days of the same month.
