6 persons killed in Habiganj road accident

Dhaka (Dec 7, 2020): At least six persons including a minor child were killed and 15 others sustained injuries as a bus hit two CNG-run auto-rickshaws on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj this afternoon.

Among the victims, three were identified as Samirul Begum, her daughters Maria and Halima, residents of Muraura village of the upazila, according to police.

Identities of the rest victim could not be known immediately, said a police official of Sherpur Highway Police Station.

According to the police official, a Sylhet-bound BRTC bus from Dhaka hit two CNG-run auto-rickshaws from behind on the highway around 5:30pm.

A total of six persons of the two auto-rickshaws died on the spot while 15 others sustained serious injuries in the accident, the police official added.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Death toll many rise in the accident, according to the police official.
