UGC signs MoU with Janata Bank to get house building loan

Dhaka (Dec 15, 2020): University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Janata Bank Ltd to avail house building loan for the UGC employees at low interest.
The MoU was signed at the auditorium of Finance Division under the government’s house building loan policy today.
UGC Secretary Ferdous Zaman, (additional charge), Additional Secretary of Finance Division of Finance Ministry Ekhlasur Rahman and Abdus Salam Azad, managing director of Janata Bank Ltd, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
Ferdous Zaman, in his speech, thanked the finance ministry and the Janata Bank for inking the agreement and expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for providing the loan at low interest rate.
He also said the UGC officials and employees will be able to fulfill their dream of buying house or flat and their long-cherished dream will be fulfilled through this agreement, he noted.
They will be given the house building loan of Tk 20 lakh to Tk. 75 lakh at a four percent interest and the government will pay the remaining five percent for a period of 20 years.
Zafor Ahommad Jahanger, Joint Secretary, Mohammad Maksudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Additional Director, UGC, Md. Ismail Hossain, Deputy Managing Director, Janata Bank Ltd., and high officials from Finance Division of Finance Ministry, Janata Bank Ltd, Sonali Bank Ltd. and Agrani Bank Ltd. were present in the agreement signing function.
