Sonali Bank bags highest operating profit in 2020

Sonali Bank Limited, the country’s largest state-owned government bank, logged the highest operating profit of Tk2,175 crore in 2020 -- up from Tk1,710 crore in 2019.

The bank has made satisfactory operating profit in the outgoing year amid slower growth both in foreign trade as well as in private sector credit due to the coronavirus pandamic, reads a press release.

Celebrating the milestone achievement of the outgoing year 2020, Sonali Bank CEO and Managing Director Md Ataur Rahman Prodhan cut a cake in the conference room of the bank’s head office in the first working day of the New Year 2021 and expressed his satisfaction over the success.

Speaking at the event, Md Ataur Rahman said the massive recovery drive aimed at loan defaulters also helped the bank improve its financial health.

Executives of the bank across the country joined the conference through videconference to celebrate the achievement.
