Rahel Ahmed has resigned from the post of managing director of Prime Bank just before one week of his term expired.
“I want to pursue new challenges and opportunities,” Ahmed told the Business Insider Bangladesh explaining the reason behind his resignation.
He said he will join a new financial institution soon.
Ahmed joined Prime Bank as its managing director on December 14, 2017 and his term was supposed to be expired on December 13 this year. But he tendered his resignation on December 7.
A senior board member of the bank, however, said he resigned after he got to know that the board will not extend his term anymore.
“We have decided not to extend his service. We need better people to lead the bank,” said Azam J Chowdhury, former chairman and a director of the bank.
