Banking hours set from 10am to 3:30pm

The government has ordered commercial banks to reschedule their banking hours from 10am to 3:30pm instead of the existing office 9am to 3pm.

Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Thursday announced the new office time for the bankers' from 10am to 5pm with effect from November 15, said a circular of the BB.

Earlier on October 30, the government during a cabinet meeting decided to run all government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous offices from 9am to 4pm daily instead of 8am to 3pm.

The new office hours will come into effect from November 15.

The government, on August 22, decided to run the offices from 8am to 3pm instead of 9am to 5pm daily in an effort to deal with the power and energy crisis following the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Prime Minister's Office, on July 20, instructed all government offices to reduce electricity consumption by 25 percent as part of the government’s austerity measures to combat the ongoing energy crisis.
