Budget session of 12th JS to be held in two shifts

The budget session of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad for the 2024-25 fiscal beginning today will continue during morning and evening shifts.

The decision was taken at the Business Advisory Committee of the House at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, reports BSS.

The present budget session will not be held during the weekly and government holidays. But the session will be held on Saturday, June 22 and June 29.

The current session will be adjourned on June 13, and it will resume on June 19.

In addition to this, the session will begin every day at 11am and continue till 1pm and then it will start from 7pm and continue till 10pm.

However, the Speaker can change the duration of the session, if necessary.

Committee members - leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, leader of the opposition GM Quader, Amir Hossain Amu, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Abul Hasnat Abdullah, Obaidul Quader, Rashed Khan Menon, Anisul Huq, Deputy leader of the opposition Anisul Islam Mahmud, Abdul Latif Siddiqui, deputy speaker Md Samsul Haque Tuku, Dr Dipu Moni, Chief Whip Nur-E Alam Chowdhury and AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen attended the meeting.

The committee was informed that some 82 questions were received for the Prime Minister's answer, while 1972 questions, including 1890, were received for ministers and state ministers.

Besides, a total of 54 important notices under section 71 of the Rules of Procedure were received.

The secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad, KM Abdus Salam, conducted the meeting.
