Cheers for cattle farmers as capital support initiative ‘Khamari’ launched

Adarsha praniSheba, Phoenix Insurance and Brac Bank signed a tripartite agreement on Wednesday to introduce ‘Khamari’ initiative for the farmers.
‘Khamari’ is such an initiative that will provide technology driven working capital support to cattle and livestock farmers.
Under this agreement, Brac Bank will provide simple, hassle-free loan facilities to the farmers. On the other hand, Phoenix Insurance will be providing insurance for the cattles and praniSheba will give technological support, reads a press release.
praniSheba is a digital platform that uses IoT (Internet of Things), artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to monitor the health of the cattles.
Speaking on the occasion held virtually as the chief guest, Planning Minister MA Mannan said his government fully supports such initiatives.
He added that his ministry would keep supporting the ‘Khamari’ initiative.
Managing Director and CEO of Adarsha praniSheba Fida Huq, Brac Bank Managing Director and CEO Selim R F Hussain, and Phoenix Insurance Managing Director and CEO Md Zamirul Islam, spoke on the occasion.
Livestock researcher and columnist Dr Awlad Hossain, President of the Bangladesh Veterinary Association Dr SM Nazrul Islam, and BRAC Bank Head of SME Syed Abdul Momen, also attended the programme.
