BAT Bangladesh receives ICAB National Award

British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BAT Bangladesh) has received first prize for the Best Published Annual Report 2019 under Manufacturing category at the 20th ICAB National Award Ceremony.
The company also won the prestigious Certificate of Merit Award for Corporate Governance Disclosures in the ceremony, reads a press release.
Shehzad Munim, managing director of BAT Bangladesh, and Mubina Asaf, its head of Legal and External Affairs, received the awards from Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi at the award ceremony held recently at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital. The minister attended as the chief guest at the event.
According to the event organiser, the annual reports are one of the means of evaluating the transparency and accountability of an organisation. One of their specialised committees — the Review Committee for Published Accounts and Reports (RCPAR) — evaluated the annual reports of all the leading companies of the country and nominated BAT Bangladesh for the award.
On the occasion, Commerce Secretary Jafar Uddin and Dr Md Hamid Ullah Bhuiyan, chairman of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), were present as special guests.
Among others, Khaled Rahman, corporate finance controller of BAT Bangladesh, Muhammad Farooq, president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), and leading industrial entrepreneurs, businessmen and economists were also present at the award ceremony.
