LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited (LHBL), one of the leading cement manufacturers in the country, has launched an innovative and one-of-a-kind water-resistant cement called 'Holcim Water Protect'.

Rajesh Surana, CEO of LHBL, inaugurated the launching ceremony through a digital platform on Sunday. Dr Raquib Ahsan, professor of the Department of Civil Engineering at BUET, was present as a special guest during the launching, reads a press release.

Holcim Water Protect has been developed through the company’s in-house product innovation and manufacturing capabilities in collaboration with the Innovation Center of LafargeHolcim Group. This product has been scientifically formulated and customised for the Bangladesh market by leveraging LafargeHolcim Group’s Smart Blend Technology.

Holcim Water Protect ensures reduced capillary action resisting the permeation of water, thus making it damp and seepage resistant. It has special properties by which it eliminates damaging effects of water that weaken structural elements like roof, foundation, walls, columns and beams, thus resulting in stronger and more durable homes, the press release adds.

Speaking on the occasion, Surana said “We are delighted to introduce our most innovative and premium product Holcim Water Protect for our customers in Bangladesh. This product has been developed through continuous consumer engagement, research and thorough understanding of the damaging impact of water on houses.

“Given the heavy rainfall in Bangladesh, we believe that Holcim Water Protect shall help our customers build their dream homes that are free from dampness and seepages,” he added.

LHBL is a part of LafargeHolcim Group, a global leader in building solutions based in Switzerland. In Bangladesh LHBL already owns two popular cement brands Holcim Strong Structure and Supercrete.
