2nd Bangladesh Fintech summit 2020 begins in Dhaka

The 2nd Bangladesh Fintech Summit 2020 begun in Dhaka yesterday with an aim to unlock the true potential of finance for people and help the country achieve its progress and prosperity.

The two-day Fintech conference was organized by Bangladesh Brand Forum where financial professionals from home and abroad lend their expertise so that Bangladesh can realise its true potentials in the field of financial serves, said a press release.

The theme of this year’s summit was “Shaping Future of Finance for People” with an object to provide collaborative space to fintech companies to share learning, success and failure with present and aspiring fintech companies.

The conference aims to initiate policy dialogue among entrepreneurs for a right policy framework for future fintech companies to thrive sustainably and to nurture the fintech ecosystem so that Bangladesh receives the full benefit and value of Global Fintech drive and movement.

The summit started with the opening speech of Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, chairman, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).

Shariful Islam, founder and managing director of Bangladesh Brand Forum delivered his welcome speech at the event.

In the opening speech Rubayat-Ul-Islam said the financial sector is a driving force of the economy of any country and in this context, Bangladesh is doing well in the development process and gradually developing.

Shariful Islam put importance on the post-pandemic economic recovery and said the fintech may play a vital role in shaping it.

The five keynote speakers are Tobias Puehse, vice-president, Product Management, Innovation and Customer Solutions, Asia Pacific, Mastercard; Carsten Hjelde, Impact Investor, Business Builder, Chairman, Acini Capital, Norway; Vijay Mani, Partner, Deloitte India; Rajeev Tummala, Director, Digital and Data Team, Markets and Securities Services Business, HSBC Singapore and Ananya Wahid Kader, Senior Operations Officer, Financial Institutions Group, IFC Asia and Pacific.
