ICSB council meets BSEC chairman

The newly elected Council Members of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB), led by its President Mohammad Asad Ullah, called on Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, chairman of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) at his office in Sher-E-Bangla Nagar November 6.

On behalf of the Council, the President introduced the newly elected Office Bearers and Council Members to the Chairman and apprised him of various activities that ICSB undertook for professional development as well as its future plans, said a press release.

Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS mentioned and asked for the representation of ICSB members in the Securities Exchange Commission’s Advisory Committee and in the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchange’s board.

He also proposed to have a company secretary in all public limited companies.

He reiterated to include the BSS-5 and BSS-6 of ICSB on ‘Virtual and Hybrid Meeting’ and ‘Resolution by Circulation’ in the Corporate Governance Code.

The BSEC chairman gave a patient hearing to the delegation and appreciated the role of ICSB in promoting professionalism and development of the Company Secretaries profession in the country.

He hoped that through these activities good corporate governance will be established in the corporate sector. He also assured continuous support from him.

The Council Members thanked the BSEC chairman for giving his valuable time and hoped that his continued support and guidance will help the Institute to move forward to achieve its objectives.

Dr Mizanur Rahman, commissioner of BSEC, council member of ICSB also assisted chairman while talking about various issues.

Mohammad Nurul Alam, senior vice president; AKM Mushfiqur Rahman, vice president; Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, treasurer; Oli Kamal, council member; Md Sharif Hasan, council member; Mohammed Harun-Ar-Rashid, council member; Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan, council member; Md Zakir Hossain, secretary & chief executive officer; and Md Shamibur Rahman, Executive Director (F&A) of the Institute were present during the meeting.
