Nagad gets 3 new clients per second

Postal Department’s digital financial service Nagad now gets three new clients in every second.

Record 2.87 lakh people opened accounts with the mobile banking service provider on March 7, while it was 2.51 lakh on March 6.

This trend has been continuing for recent days, said a press release.

Of the new clients, 95 per cent open the accounts by dialling *167# on their mobile phones, while the rest use Nagad app, it said.

“We are impressed with the love and sincerity that customers are showing by joining the Nagad platform. From the very beginning, we have been working towards the goal of making cash easily accessible,” said Nagad’s Managing Director Tanvir A Mishuk.

“To make this happen, we have made the account opening process easy and reduced all types of costs.”

Mishuk said that their main aim was to facilitate people’s financial liberty. “We already see the result of our endeavour. Hopefully, we will become the most popular MFS operator in the country very soon,” he added.

Such a faster pace of account-opening has never happened in Bangladesh, the company said.

Nagad allows clients opening the accounts, verifying their information with the help of mobile operators.

The market share of Nagad is 30 per cent in terms of client number, the release said, adding that Nagad is working to raise it to 50 per cent by this year.
