Borak Real Estate Ltd (BREL) will open two Indian chain hotels — Taj and Vivanta — in Bangladesh.

The hotels will be operated by top Indian hospitality company Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) and BREL, a concern of Unique Group, which is also the owning company of Unique Hotel & Resorts PLC, a leading hotel and hospitality management company in Bangladesh successfully operating Marriott International’s five star hotels — The Westin Dhaka and Sheraton Dhaka — and a four star boutique hotel HANSA – A Premium Residence.

An agreement to this effect was signed by representatives from IHCL and BREL at Sheraton Dhaka recently, according to a news release.

IHCL Executive Vice President (Real Estate & Development) Suma Venkatesh and Executive Vice President and General Counsel Rajendra Mishra and BREL Managing Director Mohd Noor Ali signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

During the signing, Rohan Ranade (Associate Vice President - Real Estate and Development, IHCL) and Salina Ali (Chairperson, BREL) was also present.

Under the agreement, which will be valid for a period of 30 years, IHCL will be operating Taj and Vivanta at Gulshan 2 in Dhaka in partnership with BREL (owner).

State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Advocate Mahbub Ali was present at the signing ceremony as chief guest where CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Nitol Niloy Group Chairman Abdul Matlub Ahmad and Second Secretary of High Commission of India in Bangladesh Shubham Yadav were present as special guests, among others.

The ceremony was also attended by all partners of Tata Group in Bangladesh and high officials of both BREL and IHCL.
