Walton launches world’s most eco-friendly AC with R290 refrigerant

Walton, Bangladesh's leading air conditioner brand, has introduced the world's most environmentally friendly AC models as part of its ecOzone series.
These new ACs are powered by R290, a class A3 natural hydrocarbon refrigerant that has minimal environmental impact.
Walton is the only manufacturer in Bangladesh producing ACs enriched with R290 refrigerant.
In addition to being environmentally friendly, these models are highly energy efficient and have been certified by the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).
The new ecOzone series ACs were launched to mark World Ozone Day 2024 by Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC's Managing Director, S M Mahbubul Alam, during a grand event at Walton's Corporate Office in the capital on September 15.
Special guests at the event included BSTI Director General SM Ferdaus Alam, Department of Environment Director Md. Ziaul Hoque, UNDP Bangladesh Program Specialist Arif Mohammad Faisal, and several other esteemed figures from BUET, GIZ Bangladesh, and Walton.
During the event, S M Mahbubul Alam emphasized Walton's commitment to producing eco-friendly, energy-efficient products, stating, "We have developed an environmentally friendly manufacturing process at Walton Hi-Tech Park.
In partnership with the Environment Ministry, Department of Environment, and UNDP, we’ve implemented several projects to protect the environment. Walton is the first in Bangladesh to produce ACs enriched with the eco-friendly R-290 refrigerant."
He further highlighted that Walton has eliminated harmful CFC and HCFC gases from its ACs, positioning Bangladesh ahead of many developed nations in environmental protection.
DoE Director Md. Ziaul Hoque pointed out that R-290 represents the latest in eco-friendly refrigerant technology, which is used in only a few developed countries. Walton’s introduction of R-290 ACs has made Bangladesh a significant player in this space.
Walton AC's Deputy Chief Business Officer, Sandip Biswas, shared that Walton's Research and Innovation Department has developed the world’s most advanced, eco-friendly ACs with R290 refrigerant.
These units feature gas leak safety sensors, ensuring top-notch cooling performance while prioritizing safety and environmental protection.
Head of Walton Residential AC R&I, Engr. Ariful Islam, explained that the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of R290 is 3, compared to 1810 for R22, making it significantly more eco-friendly.
The ecOzone series also boasts energy-efficient inverter technology and advanced features like ‘4D Air Flow’ for comprehensive cooling and Turbo Cool technology that cools rooms 40 percent faster.
Walton has released one-ton and 1.5-ton ecOzone series ACs, priced at Tk 59,290 and Tk 78,780, respectively.
Customers also benefit from a one-year replacement warranty and up to 10 years warranty on compressors.
