Mashreq Bangladesh appoints Kazi Ziaul Islam chief country representative

Mashreq, a financial institution in the UAE, has announced the appointment of Kazi Ziaul Islam as the chief country representative of Mashreq Bangladesh.
Ziaul will look after the overall business operation of Mashreq Bangladesh which involves managing the financial institution business in the country with a focus on origination, cross sell, and regulatory matters, said a press release.
Commenting on the appointment, Nadeem Saleh, senior director and regional head, financial institutions at Mashreq Bank said, “We are pleased to welcome Kazi as the chief country representative of Mashreq in Bangladesh.”
With over 22 years of experience, Kazi is a seasoned financial services industry veteran.
He joins Mashreq from Standard Chartered Bank where he headed the banking and non-banking financial institutions.
In his long tenure with Standard Chartered, he was involved in developing cash, trade finance and corresponding businesses, and also worked on arranging subordinated bonds for top local commercial banks of the country.
Prior to that, he held a leadership position at HSBC Bank Bangladesh.
Ziaul completed his MBA and Masters in Finance from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. He has also received numerous executive training on leadership and strategic management from the top universities in the world, including Oxford (UK), INSEAD (France), LSE (UK).
