Shubhashish Bose has joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) as its new chief executive officer (CEO).

The Council of ICAB confirmed his joining on Tuesday, reads a press release.

Shubhashish Bose drew an end to his bureaucratic career as a senior secretary to the Ministry of Commerce. Before discharging his responsibility as the that, he was in charge of the Ministry of Textile and Jute as well.

He was a member of the Bangladesh Civil Service 1982. He joined the civil service in 1983 and served in different capacities in the Taxation Department for 17 years. He also served in two Bangladesh missions abroad (South Africa and France) as commercial counsellor for seven and a half years.

Later he served as secretary at the Board of Investment for one year. He was then promoted to the rank of a joint secretary in 2009 and served the Finance Division for two years.

He was posted as director general of Executive Cell of Non-Government EPZs Board of Governors in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). After getting promoted to the rank of an additional secretary, he was posted to the Export Promotion Bureau as vice chairman in 2011, where he served for over four years.

Shubhashish also worked as director general for the WTO Cell at the Ministry of Commerce for one year before being promoted to the rank of a secretary in December 2016.
