Eastern Bank (EBL) has donated two freezer vans to the Al-Markazul Islami and the Anjuman Mufidul Islam to help facilitate transportation and burial of dead bodies during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The vans were provided as part of the bank's Covid-19 CSR programme, for which the bank allocated Tk 4.1 crore, read a press release.
Mir Nasir Hossain, director of EBL, handed over the van keys to Md Mahfuzur Rahman, executive director, Anjuman Mufidul Islam and Hamza Shahidul Islam, acting chairman of Al- Markazul Islami, on Sunday.
“Al-MarkazulIslami and Anjuman Mufidul Islam are well-known for their humanitarian activates in Bangladesh and we feel privileged to be a part of their activities,” Mir Nasir Hossain said.
Ali Reza Iftekhar, managing director and chief executive officer of EBL, Enamul Hasan Khan, secretary general, Md Sarwar Hossain, council member of Al-Markazul Islami, Md Motiar Rahman, DIG (Retd), deputy director (Service) and Nazmul Shadath, deputy director (Accounts and Finance) of Anjuman Mufidul Islam and other senior officials of EBL, were present at the event.
