4 new Covid cases, zero death recorded in last 24hrs

The health authorities recorded a total of four new cases of coronavirus from Dhaka division during the last 24 hours till Saturday morning.
However, no death caused by the virus was reported elsewhere in the country during the same period, said the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) in a handout on this afternoon.
Besides, infection rate of the virus stood at 0.26 percent which was 0.23 percent a day ago, said the DGHS in the handout.
With the updated data, the death toll from the virus remains unchanged at 29,445 while the caseload rose to 20, 37,993.
The health department diagnosed the new cases after testing 1,519, samples at 885 government-authorised laboratories during the same period across the country.
Meanwhile, some nine people were released from the virus-related illness, pushing the total number of recoveries to 20, 06,780.
The mortality and recovery rate of the virus remain static at 1.44 percent and 98.47 percent respectively.
Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28, 2022, and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in the same year.
Since the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan province in China in 2019, the health authorities in Bangladesh confirmed the first case on March 8, 2020, and the first death on March 18 of the same year.
Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, recorded 68, 26, 307 deaths caused by the virus so far and 68, 32, 07, 215 cases worldwide.
