One Covid-linked death, 6 new cases recorded in last 24hrs

After a long break, the health authorities recorded one death caused by the coronavirus and six related cases from Dhaka division during the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning.
The infection rate of the virus stood at 0.37 percent which was 0.63 percent a day ago, said an official handout of the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) this afternoon.
With the updated data, the death toll from the virus mounted to 29,446 while the caseload rose to 20, 38,014.
The health department diagnosed the new cases from Dhaka division after testing 1,628 samples during the same period across the country.
Meanwhile, some 20 people were released from the virus-related illness, pushing the total number of recoveries to 20, 06,821.
The mortality and recovery rate of the virus remains static at 1.44 percent and 98.47 percent respectively.

Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28, 2022, and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in the same year.
Since the outbreak of the virus in Wuhan province in China in 2019, the health authorities in Bangladesh confirmed the first case on March 8, 2020, and the first death on March 18 of the same year.
Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, recorded 68, 27, 665 deaths caused by the virus so far and 68, 34, 11, 633 cases worldwide.
