Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said Bangladesh’s economy will be doing good next year despite the coronavirus pandemic.
“Bangladesh’s economy has done better compared to other countries during the spread of deadly coronavirus. Suffering in the developing countries have intensified,” the minister told reporters on Wednesday after virtual meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.
He also said that global lenders like World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have estimated the global economy to shrink by 4 percent due to first and second waves of Covid-19.
“They [World Bank and IMF] have also estimated the economy of South Asian countries will decline by 1.7 percent,” the minister noted.
