Japan, Bangladesh celebrate 50 yrs of economic friendship, plan for future

The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Japan External Trade Organization (JETO) and Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) have signed an MoU to mark 50 years of economic friendship between Japan and Bangladesh.

The three sides signed the MoU on Sunday at an event titled Celebrating Fifty Years of Japan-Bangladesh Economic Friendship: Planning for the next ten years (2021-2030) of private sector cooperation, reads a press release.

M Mahabubul Alam, president of CCCI and Yuji Ando, country director of JETO and president of JBCCI, signed the MoU at the Bangabandhu Conference Hall of the Agrabad World Trade Centre, Chattogram.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi addressed the event as the chief guest and gave his welcome speech virtually.

Among others, Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki, Deputy Education Minister of Bangladesh Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury, Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, Chief Representative of JICA Hayakawa Yuho, President of FBCCI Sheikh Fazle Fahim, and all the directors of CCCI were present during the signing ceremony.
