Stocks open sharply lower

Dhaka (Nov 23, 2020): Dhaka stocks opened sharply lower in line with the previous session when the key index lost 41 points amid rising cases of the coronavirus pandemic.
As of 11am on Monday, the DSEX shed around 60 points or 1 percent to 4,782. Among other indices, DSES Index was down 19 points or 1.6 percent to 1,102 and blue chip DS30 index rose 25 points or 1.5 percent to 1,660.
In an hour, the volume of trade in value was Tk 104 crore.
Of the issues traded, 180 declined, 59 advanced while the value of 71 stocks remained unchanged.
Analysts expect volatility might persist in the stock markets in the near term as investors assess the impact of the coronavirus-induced lockdown on the economy worldwide.
