Stocks open in green, BSCCL in focus

Dhaka stocks opened in the green in tandem with the previous session’s rally.
In the first hour of the trade on Wednesday, the benchmark index DSEX gained around 14 points or 0.28 percent to 4,917 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
Among other indices, the DSES Index edged up over 2 points to 1,122 and blue chip DS30 Index also witnessed a slight rise of 0.8 point to 1,696.
From the very beginning of the trade, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company (BSCCL) was in focus taking cue from the government’s approval of connecting Bangladesh with the third submarine cable. Its stock price opened at Tk 144 a share, hitting high of Tk 149 per share.
On Tuesday, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council approved the 3rd submarine cable project at a cost of Tk 693 crore.
Out of issues traded as of 11:18am, 154 closed higher, 60 declined and 104 remained unchanged.
