DSEX crosses 5,000-mark in early trade

Dhaka stocks opened sharply higher with the key index crossing 5,000-mark after several months.

In the first 30 minutes of trade on Sunday, the DSEX gained over 28 points or 0.56 percent to 5,003 supported by the buying binge on almost all sectors.

Among other indices, the DSES Index rose almost 9 points or 0.77 percent to 1,144 and blue chip DS30 Index was up by over 9 points or 0.54 percent to 1,736.

Out of issues traded, 172 closed higher, 51 declined and 94 remained unchanged. Turnover stood at Tk 116 crore in the 30 first minutes of the trade.
