Dhaka (Dec 06, 2020): Inflation dropped in November, with the average consumer price index (CPI) being 92 basis points lower than that in October.
This is the lowest average CPI in six months, according to data by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
Compared to the previous month, food inflation declined by 1 percentage point to 5.73 percent while non-food inflation rose by 19 basis points to 5.19 percent.
Previously in October, the average CPI rose to 6.44 percent— the highest in at least five years — on the back of a sharp rise in food inflation.
This was the third consecutive monthly increase as floods and rains damaged crops, pushing up the prices of rice and vegetables.
