Stocks open on positive note

Dhaka stocks opened on a positive note on Monday in line with their gaining streak for the previous 5th straight session.

In first 30 minutes of the trade, the benchmark DSEX index added over 26 points or 0.53 percent to 5,051.

On the other hand, the DSES Index gained over 7 points or 0.66 percent to 1,158 and blue chip DS30 Index rose almost 10 points or 0.56 percent to 1,758.

Out of issues so far traded, 145 advanced, 79 declined and 90 remained unchanged. The turnover stood at Tk 134 crore in the opening session, indicating that investor participation might increase further in trade at the end of the day.

The market is likely to react to the positive news flow around coronavirus vaccination, with countries now initiating their mass vaccination phase, according to brokers.
