Index, turnover jump at opening

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) started trading on a positive note on Sunday as the key index jumps more than 1 percent at the beginning.
The trend shows the turnover may cross Tk 2,000 crore at the end of trading today.
In the first hour into the trade, the benchmark index of DSE, DSEX has increased over 70 points or 1.10 percent to 6,425.
Among other indices, the shariah-based DSES was up by 11.82 points or 0.85 percent and the blue-chip DS-30 rose by 17.36 points or 0.76 percent.
Over Tk 665 crore worth of shares transacted so far in DSE, where Orion Pharma, Eastern Housing, Fortune Shoes, Intraco and Metro Spinning were the top five traded stocks.
Earlier, on Thursday, DSEX, the benchmark index of DSE, increased over 74 points or 1.18 percent to settle the day at 6,355.
Among other indices, the shariah-based DSES rose by 11 points or 0.79 percent and the blue-chip DS-30 was up by 23.66 points or 1.05 percent.
On that day, Tk 1,777.45 crore was traded on DSE, which was Tk 643.74 crore more than the previous working day.
Shares of the 379 companies were traded on the day, of which 234 firms gained, 54 issues lost and 91 companies remained unchanged.
