Stocks stay mixed amid volatility

Dhaka stocks stayed mixed amid lower volatility on Monday after the key index hitting over a 15-month high in the previous session.

After opening higher in the morning, the key index entered the red territory after one hour of the trade, as some investors opted for quick profit booking from the gains of the previous three consecutive sessions, making a lower volatility, according to brokers.

At 11: 35am, the benchmark DSEX index moved slightly down around 4 points or 0.07 percent at 5,122 while the DSES index edged over 1 point or 0.15 percent higher at 1,182 and blue-chip DS30 saw a factional loss of 0.73 point at 1,798.

A host of factors such as macroeconomic data, stimulus packages, Covid-19 vaccine related news, coronavirus cases, and other cues, set the market tone for today.

“We reiterate our positive yet cautious approach citing overbought conditions. It’s prudent to stick with a stock-specific trading approach and using dips to add quality stocks,” said an analyst.
