Govt assigns BDPL to complete Sheikh Kamal IT and Incubation Centre at 11 districts

The government has assigned Bangladesh Diesel Plant Limited run by Bangladesh Army to carry out development works of Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centre across 11 districts in the country.
The procurement proposal of 8 products and constructing 54 public facilities by the ministry of post, telecommunications and information technology was approved at the cabinet committee on economic affairs meeting on Wednesday.
After the virtual meeting, additional secretary to the cabinet division, Shamsul Arefin, told journalists that the proposal of procuring 8 products and constructing 54 public facilities by the ministry of post, telecommunications and information technology through direct purchase methods was approved at the cabinet committee on economic affairs meeting.
He said the procurement of 8 products and building 54 public facilities will cost the government about Tk 701 crore.
“Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority said they are setting up Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centres at 11 locations with a focus on developing technically skilled manpower,” he said.
According Hi-tech Park Authority proposal, the government is financing the project at 11 districts--- Kishoreganj, Narayanganj,Manikganj, Sirajganj,Meherpur, Bhola, Bandarban, Kushtia, Chandpur , Dinajpur and Joypurhat respectively.
The total cost of the project has been estimated at Tk 798.91 crore and its physical works began on July 1 in 2020. The completion of the project has been set for June 2025, the proposal said.
Shamsul Arefin said the cabinet committee has not approved a proposal of the Statistics and Information Division of the Planning Ministry for supplying 395,000 tables by a company, Fair Electronics Limited, meant for conducting a countrywide population and housing census.
